shrove tueday (pancake day)

SHROVE TUESDAY (PANCAKE DAY) (Christian)
The day is set aside for repentance and absolution in preparation for Lent. The name derives from an ancient word to do with absolution for sin. More popularly, it is a day of eating and enjoyment. In Britain it is known as 'Pancake Day' as pancakes were originally made to use up all the rich foods before Lent. Elsewhere it is a time for carnivals and the Mardi gras (Fat Tuesday).
The boys have their pancakes with chocolate sauce and I have mine with sugar and lemon juice like I did as a child.
Mardi gras or fat Tuesday who knew?

Today is also International Women's Day - March 8th 2011 - is an important day for women all around the world. On this day, we can all celebrate the strengths and achievements of women.
It takes a lot of courage to show your dreams to someone else.
